Mission
Us Too Gymnastics, Inc is dedicated to teaching gymnastics to children with high functioning disabilities, providing a safe place for social interaction, physical activity and facilitate the building of parent support groups.
Need
An estimated 10.7 percent of the U.S. populations under 18 years of age have disabilities (defined broadly to include any limitation in activity due to a chronic health condition or impairment). 1 in 166 children nationally are diagnosed with autism; UCI Medical Center shows 6000 children in Orange County alone have been professionally diagnosed with Autism There are 434,000 people in Orange County with deaf disabilities and 749,000 deaf persons ages birth to 21 years in California Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal abnormality, occurring in approximately 1 in 900 births.
Goal
The overall goal of this project is to give these children the social skills and self esteem needed to advance into mainstream gymnastics programs, as well as other sports activities, and in turn, greatly improve their quality of life. The ultimate goal of Us Too Gymnastics is to not just to provide a place for the student to succeed in the world, but to unlock the world inside each child.
Objective
To become integrated in mainstream, social, active fitness based programs through out Orange County. Classes will be designed to work on behaviors as well as gymnastic skills. The emphasis will be on fun, increased self-esteem, communication, patience and taking turns
Teaching these children that they to can belong, promoting social interaction and physical activity.
