Transform Lives by supporting Us Too Center

Sixteen thousand Orange County children suffer from a speech or language impairment and another four thousand are afflicted with autism . These children, along with thousands of others, endure stigmatization and bullying on a daily basis. Many are emotionally shattered, most have a poor self-image and all are vulnerable.

Well-meaning attempts to provide services in school settings lead to further separation and label children as attending Special Day Classes. These same children are also shut out of after-school programs because of the specialized training required to provide services.

Founded in 2004 by concerned parents, Us Too Center educates Orange County children age toddler through ten with high-functioning disabilities such as autism, Aspergers syndrome, ADD/ADHD, Down syndrome, deafness and hearing impairment.

At Us Too Center our children find a safe place, where specially trained educators encourage and discover potential in gymnastics, dance, track & field, social play, piano and art. As they learn, our students grow in social skills and discover lifetime physical activity habits that help counteract a natural tendency towards obesity. They also begin to experience a measure of dignity that most people take for granted.

Their families are impacted too, as they connect with much-needed support and networking with Us Too Center staff and other student families. Us Too hosts parent support groups, guest speakers (nurses, doctors, natural therapists and stress management educators) and a variety of other presentations tailored to issues that affect parents of children with high functional disabilities.

Perhaps the most important way that Us Too Center serves our students is through building the social skills and self esteem necessary to transition into mainstream sports activities.
